Most Iconic Swimsuits In All Movie History - Do you remember the swimsuit your favorite actress wore in a movie?

Do you remember the swimsuit your favorite actress wore in a movie? Chances are you do. Some people think that swimsuit scenes are just a way for actresses to show off their perfect bodies, while we, mere mortals, sit there and drool at them knowing full well that we’ll probably never look like that. Others believe that it’s a way to sexualise women and sell the movie. In reality it’s probably a bit of both. But more so, those swimsuits actually form our views and tastes in fashion. The fashion industry works in mysterious ways and sometimes it’s difficult to tell whether a specific swimsuit in a movie was chosen because it was popular at the time, or was it popular because it appeared in the movie. So let’s look at some of the most iconic swimsuits in movie history.

1. Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder in Dr. No (1962)
This white bikini is arguably what started the Bond Girl phenomenon in the first place. Every single Bond fan remembers the moment Honey Ryder emerged out of the water in this white swimsuit. Ursula Andress looked so beautiful in it, yet dangerous, thanks to that awesome knife attached to the side of her bikini bottoms. That swimsuit ended up being quite valuable too, it was auctioned off in 2001 for $60 000.

2. Halle Berry as Jinx in Die Another Day (2002)
In cases you needed proof that Honey Ryder’s swimsuit was iconic, here’s Halle Berry playing a Bond girl in 2002. As you can see, her swimsuit is an obvious reference to Honey Ryder’s bikini. Sure, the color is completely different, but you’ve got to agree that it looks pretty freaking similar, especially with that knife tucked in on the side. They did, however, make the fit more snug, but we’re not complaining. Halle Berry looks stunning in it, and you know a swimsuit is awesome if it’s still being referenced in a movie 40 years later.

3. Pamela Anderson as C.J Parker in Baywatch (1989 – 2001)
This red swimsuit is proof that one-piece swimsuits can be as provocative as bikinis, if not more. One might argue that one-pieces are for those trying to cover up and show as little body as possible, but let’s be real, Pam wasn’t trying to cover up. The bright red can be seen from miles away and the high hip detail makes this swimsuit almost too hot to be worn in public. Plus, it was Pamela Anderson who was wearing it, and she knows how to fill out a one piece and make it look great.

4. Phoebe Cates as Linda Barrett in Fast Times At Ridgemont High (1982)
Phoebe Cates had everyone drooling at the sight of her emerging from the swimming pool. Just one look at Phoebe in her tiny red bikini had the the guys mesmerized, and the girlfriends trying to cover their fella’s eyes. You’ve got to agree, that even though that movie came out in the 80’s, this swimsuit would have the same effect on men even in the modern day.

5. Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983)
Whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not, chances are you’ve seen this picture. It’s a legendary scene from the movie and and a legendary bikini. Geeks all over the world still wish they could get a girlfriend who’d wear a bikini like that. However, it’s fair to point out that it’s not the most practical one, since it’s made out of metal. That’s probably the reason it remains popular only at Cosplay conventions, and, perhaps, some very lucky geeks’ bedrooms.

6. Salma Hayek as the vampire queen in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
Believe it or not, this was one of the first English speaking roles for Salma Hayek. While that’s awesome for her career, we’re not sure anyone remembers her lines from the movie. After all we were all transfixed by how incredibly fit she looked in that skimpy bikini and with a snake on her shoulders — a look not many can pull off. As you know, in the movie, Salma’s character lured men to their death, but to be honest, that’s not the worst way to go, as long as the last thing you see is Salma Hayek in that bikini.

7. Demi Moore in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003)
We’ve seen Charlie’s Angels prancing around in swimsuits so many times it’s hard to pinpoint which of their swimsuits were the most iconic. So here’s the scene everyone remembers from Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, with Demi Moore and Cameron Diaz clad in nothing but bikinis. We thought it would be quite interesting to point out that Demi Moore was 40 when this scene was filmed, and she had a kid. Demi just proves that ladies can look awesome in bikinis not only as young girls, but as grown women too.
